Terms & Privacy
Official Player Guidelines & Privacy Policy
1. Terms of Service
1.1 Obligation to Finish
By using the /join command, you acknowledge that our matches can last an extended period of time due to unlimited overtimes. You are obligated to play the match in its entirety. Abandoning results in a Strike.
1.2 Abandonment Criteria
- No-Show: Failure to connect within 5 minutes.
- Time-Out: Disconnected for a cumulative 3 minutes after match start or two full rounds (counting from end of freezetime to end of other freezetime e.g. end of freezetime round 4 to end of freezetime round 6).
- Withdrawal: Explicitly stating intent to leave.
If your internet may not be fast enough to download workshop maps in time to connect, consider downloading them in advance. This collection contains all community maps the server is able to use.
1.3 Competitive Integrity
Cheating or "griefing" is strictly prohibited. Punishments include blacklisting.
1.4 Account Linking
To participate in custom matches, you must link the same Steam account you will be playing with to your Discord account using the /link command. You will be unable to connect to the server using any other account than the linked one and may be penalized for your inability to connect.
1.5 Sharing Server Credentials
Sharing server connection details such as passwords, connect commands, or connect URLs with non-participants is strictly prohibited. Doing so will result in a ban for the leaker and any participants who join via shared details.
1.6 The Strike System
Each strike is a formal record of a violation. We use a progressive system to encourage fair play:
| Violation Count | Consequence |
|---|---|
| 1st Strike | Warning |
| 2nd Strike | 1 Day Ban |
| 3rd Strike | 7 Day Ban |
| 4th Strike | 14 Day Ban |
| 5th Strike | 30 Day Ban |
| 6th Strike | 60 Day Ban |
| 7th+ Strike | 90 Day Ban |
*Reminder: Clean play for 30–90 days removes strikes from your record (See Section 3.2).
2. Communication & Conduct
2.1 Behavioral Standards
No hate speech or harassment. Toxicity that ruins the experience for the other 9 players or the stream audience may result in punishment like immediate removal or suspensions.
3. Privacy Policy (GDPR)
We process data under Art. 6(1)(b) (Service Fulfillment) and Art. 6(1)(f) (Legitimate Interest) of the GDPR.
3.1 Technical Processing
We collect your SteamID and DiscordID. Our custom bot processes this data to send commands to our game server for team management and access control.
3.2 The Janitor Rule (Data Retention)
Per the principle of data minimization, automated scripts run periodically to purge data:
- Strikes: Deleted after 30–90 days. (Strike 1 after 30 days, Strike 2 after 60 days, Strikes 3+ after 90 days).
- Bans: Expired ban records are purged; only active bans are retained for security purposes.
3.3 The /unlink Command
To exercise your "Right to be Forgotten," use /unlink. This immediately deletes your linked profile and associated stats. This excludes active bans and/or strikes to prevent ban evasion.
3.4 Storage of Player Statistics on our Server
We store player statistics on our server to display player performance data on a web leaderboard. If you wish to have your data removed, you may use the /unlink command on discord and all match statistics will be removed from our database.
3.5 Streaming of Gameplay
By participating in our matches, you agree to be recorded and/or streamed by any players or spectators. This recording may include anything visible to the user, including but not limited to:
- Your in-game profile
- Your gameplay actions
- Voice communication
3.6 Data Processing and Retention
We process and retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. Data is retained in accordance with applicable data protection laws and regulations and is stored in a secure database.
We may also share data with DatHost via the DatHost Match API as that is necessary for the functionality of the service. Specifically, DatHost receives SteamID64 IDs and nickname overrides (your discord display name) for all players at the start of any match.
3.7 Requesting your Data
In the event that you wish to request all data currently stored about you, you may use the /requestdata command in our Discord server.
3.8 What happens to my data when I get banned from the Discord server?
When you are banned from our Discord server, all data associated with your discord account is deleted from our database. This excludes active bans and/or strikes to prevent ban evasion.
4. Legal Notice & Liability
4.1 Disclaimer of Liability
Knice Kustoms is a community project provided "as-is." We are not liable for any technical malfunctions, data loss, or damages to hardware/software resulting from the use of our bot, plugins, workshop maps, or servers.
4.2 Age Requirement & Parental Consent
Users must be at least 16 years of age to participate. If you are between the ages of 13 and 15, you may only participate if your legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms and our Privacy Policy on your behalf. Participation by anyone under the age of 13 is strictly prohibited.
4.3 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.
